Instructions for Submitting Motions

To submit a motion, email the text of the motion together with a brief supporting statement, preferably as an attachment in Word format, to For members without access to email, mail or fax the material to Nancy Shearer, ALI, 4025 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104, fax: 215-243-1636. Submissions will be acknowledged upon receipt.

Submissions received by 5:00 p.m. (EDT) on Thursday, May 13, will be posted on this website before the Meeting. In addition, printed copies of submissions received via email by 5:00 p.m. (EDT) on Friday, May 7, will be made available at the Meeting. Any member who presubmits a motion after 5:00 p.m. (EDT) on Friday, May 7, is asked to hand-deliver to the ALI registration desk at least 200 printed copies and also bring a USB drive containing the material for projection during the Meeting. (Do not send the copies to ALI or to the Mayflower.) The Institute reserves the right to refuse to post materials it deems too lengthy or not appropriate for the purpose.

Members who intend to make a motion but do not wish to submit it in advance are asked to bring the text on a USB drive so that it can be projected during consideration of the motion. Motions may also be made from the floor without having advance written text.

The Institute, in its discretion, may post comments dealing with projects on the Annual Meeting agenda, even if the comments are not accompanied by a motion. As with motions, written comments submitted on a draft or other matter may be posted or otherwise distributed by the Institute, with credit to the author, unless the author states that no such permission is granted.
